Website vs. Web Application: What’s the Difference?
A website provides information to visitors (what you do, who you serve, how to contact you), whereas a web application allows users to perform actions with their own data (logging in, uploading files, managing records, processing payments, or automating workflows).
The Overlooked Option: Public Website + Private Web Application
Many growing businesses use both: a public marketing website ($750 – $2,250) to attract prospective leads on Google, paired with a private client portal / web application ($2,500 – $4,500+) where active customers log in to view invoices, manage appointments, and access records.
